The 2009 BREAD & BUTTER is almost upon us, on July 1st the “tradeshow for selected brands” will provide the concept of an innovative trade fair event for the progressive, contemporary clothing culture.

After four successful years in Barcelona, BREAD & BUTTER is returning to its hometown Berlin – a city full of creativity, power and innovation!

As an international specialist trade fair for Street and Urban Wear, BREAD & BUTTER represents a marketing and communication platform for brands, labels and designers from the areas of Denim, Sportswear, Street Fashion, Function Wear and Casual Dressed Up, as well as for suppliers from the preliminary stage of the textile industry.

With a unique brand portfolio, BREAD & BUTTER confirms its position as the leading international trade fair and trademark – it is the meeting point for buyers, traders and representatives from the textile industry press.

Like no other event, the “tradeshow for selected brands” reflects the culture and brand philosophy of its exhibitors: the brands exhibiting at BREAD & BUTTER present themselves according to their brand direction with their complete versatility.

Twice each year, the “tradeshow for selected brands” brings together both inspiration and business according to the basic principle of “Fun & Profit”. Its early date makes BREAD & BUTTER the kick-off event within the industry.

One of the shows highlights will include Reebok’s unveiling of the new and revised classics, the Reebok Pump to celebrate the the trainers 20th anniversary.

Radio underdogs blitz the big league…>

The Sony Radio Academy Awards is the industry’s top ceremony for celebrating excellence in this field. Traditionally dominated by the big names of broadcasting, however this year saw a u-turn when the unlikeliest winners was a prison radio station ‘Electric Radio Brixton’ who won four prizes, including two prestigious gold awards whose tagline is “making waves behind bars”.

Jokes were understandably in excess about their ‘captive audience’, mediahustler wonders if their intro music is Queen’s ‘I Want to Break Free’…

BBC Radio 5 Live was the most successful station, with five gold awards, including two for its breakfast show and one for Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode’s film reviews. In the internet programme category, the Guardian’s Media Talk podcast won a Sony silver award. The gold was won by the Bristol Catholic diocese for its entry, The Budgerigar and the Prisoner.

BBC Radio 3 won national station of the year for the first time. The judges said: “It has sustained a particularly strong schedule of appealing breadth, with a subtle combination of challenging and accessible material that is presented in a thoroughly entertaining manner”. There were two gold awards for Radio 2 drivetime presenter Chris Evans.

The judges said: “Chris is still setting the pace for others to follow.”But Radio 1 and its biggest star Moyles, who last week came within a whisker of overtaking Wogan as the country’s most popular breakfast show, went home empty-handed.

This week I am mostly logging onto: VICE’s DO’s & DON’Ts
VICE
WHY? Because it makes me laugh and accept that sometimes the most out-there ideas are often OK so ‘DO’, on the other hand it does offer a somewhat endearing yet-brutally honest and sometimes vicious reasons for the ‘DON’Ts’ or at least in the eyes of the alternative lifestyle magazine and it’s readers – all in all its a good read…

MTV Movie Awards 2009 – put your best vote forward…>

Voting is officially open for the MTV Movie Awards 2009 and for the first time ever, they have tasked viewers this year to select nominees for categories including ‘Who had the best kiss?’ the ‘Most insane WTF moment?’ and new category ‘Best Song From a Movie?’ The esteemed 2009 MTV Movie Awards panel has requested the help of Joe Public to determine who deserves what this year.

It appears last year’s teen-vampire-hit Twilight will go head-to-head with Oscar-winning Best Film Slumdog Millionaire at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards later this month. Each film has received nominations in six award categories including Best Movie, Best Kiss and Breakthrough Performance Male.

Last year’s 2008s wealth of comic book adaptations is indeed reflected in this year’s list of MTV Movie Award nominees, with 11 nominations spread over 7 categories — from the grand “Best Movie” all the way to the new, earlier mentioned, most head-scratching “Best WTF Moment.”

See the breakdown below courtesy of MTV Splash Page:

BEST MOVIE: The Dark Knight takes on Iron Man in this category — but the real question is whether either film will be able to compete with Twilight in the MTV audience. Come on, comic book crew, give ‘em heck!

BEST FEMALE PERFORMANCE: Angelina Jolie’s role as the super-sexy Fox in Wanted nabbed her a nomination for best female performance. Are you going to be the one to deny Fox a vote (or anything else, for that matter)? I didn’t think so.

BEST MALE PERFORMANCE: It’s Batman vs. Iron Man as Christian Bale’s performance in The Dark Knight receives a nomination alongside Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Tony Stark. Can either of them beat Zac Efron, though?

BEST VILLAIN: Sure, the late, great Heath Ledger is likely to have his great performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight recognized by fans, but Luke Goss is also in the running for his Hellboy II: The Golden Army role.

BEST KISS: Wanted gets another nomination for its steamy lip-lock between Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy. But was it more memorable than the vampire-human makeout session in Twilight? Only you can decide!

BEST FIGHT: It’s another comic book twosome, but instead of locking lips, these comic book duets are fighting to be recognized as the best brawl of 2008. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger worked out their anger issues in The Dark Knight, but Ron Perlman and Luke Goss got downright supernatural in their Hellboy II battle.

BEST WTF MOMENT: It’s a big ol’ spoiler, so we’ll understand if you refrain from checking this one out — but there’s a lot to be said for the Wanted moment that’s vying for this head-scratching award. Sure, it was a bit of a departure from the comic book story, but it was still a big part of this hit adaptation. If you’ve seen the film, go ahead and vote it up, folks.

mediahustler favourite, Saturday Night Live & The Lonely Planet comic Andy Samberg will host the event as he joins the ranks of such comedic mega-stars as Ben Stiller, Mike Myers, Sarah Silverman and Eddie Murphy.

If you fancy being part of the voting-massive then here’s how you do it: Between May 4 – May 27, viewers can visit www.MovieAwards.MTV.com and vote for their favourites.

Joan Collins sticks with what she knows…>

At the party for the Selfridges centenary Lily Allen came face to face with the queen of glamour and bitchiness Joan Collins, not expecting to be subject to the latter the pop-princess attempted to greet her ‘icon’ with the generic air kiss Collins responded with, “I don’t kiss people I don’t know.” Now I myself am often uncomfortable with this form of welcome but Joan, steady on old girl, even the monarch has been known to accept a kiss when meeting new people.

Funny thing is, Lily Twittered this news (via The Sun) revealing that her personal role model had completely dissed her. I am not sure what is worst, being destroyed by Alexis Morell Carrington Dexter Rowan Colby or telling everyone about it causing just as much embarrassment!

STAR TREK set’s phasers to FUN!>

mediahustler scored an invite to the UK premiere of the much anticipated STAR TREK film last night and after an approximate 120 minute warp speed extravaganza of action, suspense and alien’s one cannot deny that JJ Abrams creator of Lost has done well…

I am far from a fan of the original series created by Gene Roddenberry – it spawned spin-off shows such as the animated series, The Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager and others but also capitalised on the success of this cult phenomenon with a host of feature length films and a themed attraction, the list of franchise is endless but again failed to impress me. Entering the Empire theatre in Leicester Sq I held low expectations but it transpired that I had judged far to soon, I was incredibly surprised to find myself cheering for a young James T. Kirk fighting his way through the ranks, strangely wishing I could stand with the Federation as they battled against the destructive Romulan’s and I felt slight sadness when characters were killed or injured – this was an epic tale of a rebellious boy unwilling to conform eventually finding direction thus becoming a man –  in space !

The after show party at the Royal Festival Hall’s SKYLON was equally as good, filled with recognisable faces including the main cast and a few other TV ‘stars’ and a variety of thirst-quenching cocktails – my particular favourite was the Tequila, lime & nectar tumbler – Moorish canapés which were provided regularly leaving the most portly of the crowd full.

The funniest parts of the night were a drunken Richard Hammond, James May and Neil Morrissey, a rather red-faced Jeremy Clarkson. A random guy asking Edith Bowman to take a picture of him and Simon Pegg and not recognising her – in comparison, I guess it’s acceptable…OUCH, but true!

The real Slim Shady stands up for MTV Movie Awards…>

After making his MTV comeback recently Eminem will be returning to the stage on May 31st at the MTV Movie Awards as he is named the first performer for this year’s awards. The performance will come just 12 days after Slim Shady releases his new record Relapse, his first of two new albums this year.

The event will be hosted by MediaHustlers favourite comedian right now, Saturday Night Lives and the Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg.

More performers expected to be announced shortly and there have been no reports as to which song Slim Shady will rap at the awards show, but it’s safe to assume it will be a new track — and considering Samberg’s fondness (see: I’m On A Boat feat. T-Pain) for hip-hop, it’s possible the two could joing up for some musical hilarity!
